Our Privacy Commitment

Screen Buddy is designed with privacy-first principles. Unlike always-on voice assistants, Screen Buddy only captures your screen when you explicitly ask it to. No background surveillance. No always-on listening. You're always in control.

1. Introduction

Kapari AI ("we", "our", or "us") operates Screen Buddy (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our AI screen assistant application.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you sign in with Google, we collect your email address and name to create and manage your account.

2.2 Screen Captures

Screen Buddy only captures your screen when you explicitly ask it a question about your screen. These captures are:

  • Transmitted securely via encrypted HTTPS to process your request
  • Not stored permanently on our servers
  • Not used for training AI models
  • Not shared with third parties for any purpose other than processing your request

2.3 Voice Data

Voice input is only captured during active sessions when you have the session running. When you mute, the microphone is completely disabled. Audio is processed in real-time via WebRTC and is not stored.

2.4 Usage Data

We may collect anonymized usage statistics to improve our service, such as session duration and feature usage. This data does not include screen content or voice recordings.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide the Screen Buddy service and respond to your queries
  • To authenticate your account via Google OAuth
  • To improve our service quality and user experience
  • To process subscription payments
  • To communicate important updates about the service

4. What We Don't Do

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • OpenAI: For AI processing of your queries and screen analysis (via their Realtime API)
  • Google OAuth: For secure authentication
  • Stripe: For subscription payment processing

These services have their own privacy policies. Screen data sent to OpenAI for processing is subject to OpenAI's data retention policies. We use their API in a way that minimizes data retention.

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures:

  • All data transmission is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS and WebRTC encryption
  • OAuth 2.0 for secure Google authentication
  • Screen captures are processed in real-time and not stored on our servers
  • The desktop app runs locally and communicates securely with our backend

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Control access: Screen Buddy only sees your screen when you explicitly ask
  • Mute anytime: One-click mute completely disables the microphone
  • End sessions: You can end a session at any time
  • Revoke permissions: Remove screen recording permission in macOS System Settings
  • Delete your account: Contact us to delete your account and all associated data
  • Request data: Request a copy of your account data

8. Data Retention

Account information is retained while your account is active. Screen captures and voice data are processed in real-time and not permanently stored. When you request account deletion, we will delete all your data within 30 days.

9. Children's Privacy

Screen Buddy is not intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
